Sailoz Mukherjee

Born in Calcutta, Mookherjea gained his diploma in Fine Arts at the Government College of Arts and Crafts and went on to teach at the Delhi Polytechnic. He exhibited widely in India and is now to be found in important Indian collections, including the Academy of Fine Arts, Calcutta; the Lalit Kala Academi and National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; and the Jehangir Nicholson Museum, NCPA-Bombay. Mookherjea’s work is predominantly known through his articulation of rural Indian scenes, characteristically executed in Vibrant colours and a staccato line. He died in 1960.
